BGLC are seeking Expressions of Interest from Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk (WJJWJ) Peoples to become representatives of the BGLC Language Sub-Committee.
The Language Sub-Committee will be a strategic-level sub-committee of the BGLC Board. It will have an oversight and advisory purpose and give WJJWJ Traditional Owners with cultural knowledge and authority the opportunity to consider issues and make recommendations to the Board. It will also support management in the reclamation, use and protection of Wergaia and Jadawadjali Languages of the Wotjobaluk Nation, and act in accordance with the responsibilities and priorities of BGLC.
The structure of the Language Sub-Committee will include two positions from each of the BGLC family groups with gender representation (where practicable), two positions from the wider community for people with language or cultural expertise, and a working group consisting of no more than six members to provide technical language expertise.
