About the Role

The Dyurrite Ranger Team is responsible for executing BGLC’s responsibilities centred around the Dyurrite Cultural Landscape (Mount Arapiles and Mitre Rock). Rangers will ensure the environment and facilities of the site are kept in good condition, participating in routine maintenance and emergency response, as well as assisting visitors to the sites and gathering data relevant to the management of the sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain site grounds, monitoring plants, animals and condition of facilities
  • Engage with visitors to sites, providing information and guidance, and ensuring that visitors interact positively with the area and comply with guidelines
  • Assist in development and implementation of projects to enhance and conserve sites
  • Participate in emergency response and readiness as necessary

Key Selection Criteria

  • Willingness to undergo training in Cultural Heritage and Compliance (Cert IV level), accreditation to participate in DEECA fire response, and any other necessary training
  • Unrestricted manual driver’s licence (or ability to obtain)
  • Reasonable physical fitness to move around large outdoor sites and complete fire response training
  • Professional and friendly communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to navigate front-facing situations
  • Diligence, ability to self-direct and commitment to the well being of Cultural Landscapes
