BGLC is seeking expressions of interest for a Trainee Water Officer.

Sitting within the Natural Resource Management team, this trainee will have the opportunity to participate meaningfully in the activities of the team, learning and implementing traditional waterways management practices, working with partners in this space and being mentored by experienced members of the team.

Alongside this, the trainee will also complete a Certificate III in Conservation & Ecosystem Management as part of a program which embeds cultural understandings of caring for Country, alongside a cohort of their colleagues at BGLC.

This opportunity would be ideal for school-leavers or students seeking to begin a school-based traineeship and get a head start on a career in natural resources management.

  • Learn and practice traditional waterway management, monitoring the health of waterways and their ecosystems and practically implementing measures to enhance their wellbeing
  • Attend meetings with members of partner agencies and groups
  • Contribute to events and programs to raise awareness and engagement in water from the community
  • Undertake Certificate III in Conservation & Ecosystem Management over the course of 24 months (program to commence within 6 months of traineeship beginning)
