“To make change, you have to be part of the conversation. You have to be sitting at the table.” Aunty Janine Coombs, from the Country Plan
We, the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk Peoples have lived in the Wimmera-Mallee-Gariwerd region for thousands of years. We were given the responsibility to look after our Country and culture, to keep it healthy and strong. Our Ancestors cared for the lands and waters of our Country following Bunjil’s law and practising and protecting traditional lore and culture.
BGLC is committed to being guided by the voices of the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk Peoples in all that we do. Your guidance is essential, it ensures our work reflects the knowledge, priorities, and aspirations of Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk People. By taking part in our current projects, joining a Board sub-committee or reference group, and sharing your insights, you help shape our path in protecting Country, strengthening culture, and supporting self-determination.
BGLC can issue a Confirmation of Aboriginality for Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk Peoples who are eligible and meet the required criteria.
To request a Confirmation of Aboriginality, you will need to:
Please note: Processing times can vary depending on Board meeting schedules, so we recommend lodging your application well in advance of when you need the document.
